Theresa Gustavsson
Dancer
Theresa Tr3sa Gustavsson is a versatile dancer who has been working in the street dance scene since 2005. Her main dance styles are hip-hop, popping, locking and house, but it doesn't end there. Theresa has a strong interest in cultural dances and she has spent a lot of time on research trips where Salsa, Afro Cuban, Sabar and Pantsula are some influences that can be seen in her dance expression. She has taught, been a guest teacher and held workshops both around Sweden and abroad. Theresa is passionate about community building and has organized over 40 events, as well as participated in events and battles around Sweden and the world.
She has been involved in forming/working with the groups ATATA, What came out of the Mothership, Swedish Family, all of which in their own way broke new ground within the street dance scene in Sweden. Together with Cajsa Godée, she created the performance group dokidoki, where street dance with the help of improvisation, live music and voice were mixed in the performances "dokidoki" & "Vivrant Thing". They also did the cross-genre collaboration with the group MirrorMusic where sensor technology mediated the contact between dancers and live musicians in 2017. As a dancer, she has, among other things, participated in "TUGG" by Viktor Fröjd and "Ghost" at the China theater.
After more than 10 years in Stockholm, Theresa is now based in Malmö since 2019. She is currently choreographer/producer for the performance Open doors, dancer/choreographer/producer for the intercultural dance performance "YEBO YES!" and producer for AFIA Festival. For the past 3 years, through her project "Body Mechanics within Groove & Rhythm", she has explored its relationship and designed concepts that she now develops in both her pedagogy and artistic creation. You can find her teaching her own classes in Malmö on Mondays at Danscentrum Syd, as well as curating and hosting the Iver Open dance Practice on Thursdays at Kulturskolan.
