Gianluca began his journey in photography in his early twenties as a self-taught artist.

His work as a social worker led him to document the living conditions of a workingclass, low-income neighbourhood in his hometown. The project resulted in a book

publication in 2016, in collaboration with the University of Florence, entitled "Dentro

i quartieri di edilizia residenziale pubblica" (Inside the Public Housing

    Neighbourhoods).

Following the success of his first publication, Gianluca started working with nonprofit associations in Senegal and Afghanistan, documenting the conditions of women

and the consequences of war on their lives. His work was featured in both Italian and

    international newspapers.

Later on, he moved to Malmö to dedicate himself fully to photography. In 2015, he

began a four-year documentary project about Malmö's subcultures and the DIY scene

in a basement located in Norra Grängesbergsgatan. Photos from this project have

been published in Swedish national and international magazines. They were also

showcased in the finissage "Warhol 1968" at Moderna Museet in Malmö in 2019 and

the Dokumentärfotosalong 2020 at Arbetets Museum. Finally, Gianluca's work was

published in a photo book entitled "Plan B," edited by Kira Förlag.

  • Maria Aberg is a theatre director, performance maker, and the founding and artistic director of PROJEKT EUROPA, an artist collective, advocacy group and arts organisation creating migrant-led, multi-lingual work at the intersection of performance, co-creation and participation.

She works across disciplines to develop human-centered, authentic and complex performances using methods of horizontal and inclusive devising and story gathering. Her practice exists in the collision of participation and performance, working with individuals - artists and non-professionals - from a migration background to explore notions of identity, locality and the juxtaposition between personal and collective history. By working multilingually she actively challenges the colonial assumption that underpins the dominance of any one language in the performance arena. As a result, her work is often choreographic, focusing on the imperfect body as a site of knowledge and experience and the physical/visual as the central gesture of expression.

She has worked across a wide range of settings - starting off in larger established institutions and theatres and as her practice has developed and moved closer to participatory performance, her work has moved to art galleries, non-traditional performance spaces and the outdoors

  • Wild Cosmos is a story-driven creative studio based in Malmö, Sweden. As part of stpln:Lab Wild Cosmos is represented by Daniela Doe and Sorrel Salb.

The name Wild Cosmos studio is deeply rooted in nature. Like flowers that emerge through cracks in the concrete, we are passionate about being innovative, finding new ways of doing things, and making the world around us a little more colorful. We cherish the idea that nature and ideas can always grow in unexpected places and at any time.

    Studio practice:

Storytelling changes everything. Tell a story in the wrong way and people won't connect with it or see the true potential of what you're trying to convey. Tell a story right and the audience will get personally invested and engage with it.

Every story has potential. But a lot of stories are not being told in the best way that they could. At Wild Cosmos, we start our process with truly understanding and getting to the heart of the story. And then we find a way to tell that story in the best way possible.

In a world that's rapidly changing, sometimes different approaches or new twists on old ideas can be exactly what's needed to create something incredible. Every product, idea, or story is unique and deserves a unique approach to finding the best way to share it with others.

  • Re:Cut The Label is a Swedish Designer Label turning existing resources such as surplus denim fabric and pre-loved jeans into well-crafted designer collections, not only to extend, but enhance the lifespan of textiles.

When designing our collections we aim to design out waste and keep longevity, durability, reuse, resale and recycling in mind already at the design stage. And as a response to overproduction we produce mainly on-demand.

In a perfect world, surplus fabric wouldn't exist, but as it does, the best option is to use it. And by using mainly surplus fabric we can limit the amount of virgin resources we use as well as extend the lifespan of the textiles we do use, keeping them away from landfills.

Garments' negative environmental impact happens mainly during the first phase while producing the fabric. So by skipping that phase and instead take care of, and re-purpose material that already exists, it is possible to significantly reduce garments' negative environmental impact.

  • Jonathan Nikolaj Heinius came to the film via writer's dreams, sound design, theory of electronic dance music and Dogme95. He has them in recent years developed a documentary method, with a fictional format.

A kind of adaptation method in conversation with reality. His format is now the feature film, where he appears as an auteur playing with genre. "Köttstålars" is the first pure fiction film, in which he continues to confirm his interest in genre films - the hope is to create something as cult as Sweden's first stoner comedy i Malmö.

Jonathan's films are in the borderland between entertainment and art. A strong interest in dramaturgy and the story, together his works of audiovisual play and documentary fieldwork, which gives the world and the characters authenticity with element of surprise in the design.

  • Mark Bond is a furniture & product designer with 30 years professional experience. Although born in the UK, he is now based in Malmö after moving to Sweden in 2016 to follow his passion for Scandinavian design & lead a team of product developers for IKEA.

Mark always aims to challenge boundaries & drive creative design solutions as a tool for good. A firm believer, that good design should be simple, accessible & enhance the quality of our lives: ideally a perfect harmony of function, innovation & art.

Having trained in furniture design at the Royal College of Art in London & worked with many respected global organisations, Mark has designed furniture, products, interiors, trend forecasted, written books, curated exhibitions & managed design/ development teams.

Now it’s time for him to put his passion for design into developing his own range of self-initiated & experimental projects & hopefully many collaborations with other creatives to both stimulate conversation & deliver awesomeness.

  • For the last few years, I have been working, primarily, as a freelance design critic (and sometimes actual designer). My writing about design in the climate crisis can be found in MOLD Magazine, Protean Magazine, Icarus Complex Magazine, Eye on Design, and The Baffler.

Last year, I edited a book of design called Objects in Dialog, for the Stockholm-based studio Office for Design while also serving as art editor for the New York-based, culture magazine The Drift. Locally, I have been developing workshops for Feral Malmö—a project exploring multispecies perspectives in the city. And occasionally, I'll author a comedic story on the absurd spats between people and nature for my blog Anthrovision!

Since moving to Malmö from the US last year, I've been looking to find more opportunities for collaboration locally. The main focus of my work has been on design, ecology, and biodiversity loss and as a writer or designer, and I am hoping to find ways to continue this work in and around Skåne.

  • Lucy Cathcart Frödén is a researcher and community artist, working primarily in music and sound. She's interested in how creative collaboration can play a part in building more integrated and welcoming communities. Recently she's been working on a podcast series called The Art of Bridging, which documents a 5-year research project that used collaborative songwriting to learn about coming home after prison, and a short film soundtrack with a Glasgow-based choir of women with local and global roots. She's currently in the early stages of developing a new post-doctoral artistic research project on multilingual urban soundscapes. She moved here from Scotland with her husband and three kids during the pandemic, and part of her heart will always be in Glasgow, but getting to know Malmö and the people in it feels like unwrapping a gift.
